LEXINGTON, KY (February 2, 2009) - On Saturday, March 28, 2009, Rob Parton will visit Lexington for a clinic, workshop, and concert to be held in UK’s Singletary Center.  Admission is free, and this event is presented by the Bluegrass Area Jazz Association with support from LexArts.  Lexington-area students are encouraged to enter their applications to participate in the band!  [CLICK HERE for further information and an entry form.]

Rob Parton will work with area high school students who were selected through audition to participate in the second Jazz All-stars of Central Kentucky (JACK).  Students will have a private clinic with Parton and perform with him that evening. Parton will also conduct a workshop, open to the public, that afternoon in UK’s Singletary Center. In the concert, Parton will perform with JACK, the University of Kentucky Jazz Ensemble, and the Bluegrass Area Jazz Ambassadors big band.

Rob Parton, one of Chicago’s busiest and versatile trumpet players, is a well known and highly regarded studio/theatre/jazz musician, performer-educator and band-leader.

As a jazz musician, Parton performs over 250 Jazz trio dates a year as the featured artist at Chicago’s Catch 35. The list of musicians who have played in the Rob Parton Trio is like a who’s who in Chicago Jazz.

As a studio musician, Parton has played on hundreds of radio and television commercials and many CD projects. Parton has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Chicagoland Pops Orchestra, Doc Severinsen, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr., Mel Torme, The Beach Boys, Christopher Cross, Sheena Easton, Peabo Bryson, Celine Dion, Nick Carter, Yolanda Adams, Josh Groban, Enrique Eglasius, Natalie Cole and Maynard Ferguson to name only a few.
